Yaffle
I was chasing a much better shot of this guy on a dead tree yesterday but he was quite jumpy. While he was digging up the ant’s nests in my lawn today he was much calmer, either preoccupied or doped up. In over half the shots I took he has his eyes shut – don’t know if he was reacting to something from the ants?

Demoiselle Day
As predicted I didn’t have time to go on the dragonfly safari I would have liked to today, but I did pop out to my local patch this afternoon. Lots of damselflies (Flickr). But the demoiselles stole the show. In the end, I had to pick this showoff for today’s shot.
